35mm film

film info & investments
Film is my absolute favorite hobby.
I started out with instax polaroid cameras, capturing whatever I could, wherever I could.
I was fascinated that chemicals and colors could come together to freeze a moment as it was, and keep it that way. I later moved into what I do now, 35mm. I first used my point-and-shoot as a glorified disposable to take pictures of moments with friends to save that nostalgia that would inevitably make me sick ten years down the line, but that I would ultimately be glad I took. I want to be able to share the soft, sweet feel that the grain of film brings with you.

Film FAQ

What is the turnaround time for film sessions?
A typical development turnaround time is around two to three weeks.
Often I take & drop off at my film lab every couple of weeks, but am also looking into mail order.
Why are your film services priced like they
As I'm sure you've already seen when researching a film photo session, it ain't cheap!
Film rates are priced based upon the price i pay for development, driving to and from my film lab for development, to and from your session, the price of the stocks themselves + shipping, as well as my equipment. I try to make film an available option to everyone while also being able to pay for the things I need to make it happen!
What film stocks do you offer? Can I pick & choose?
What film stocks do you offer? Can I pick & choose?
I mainly work with Fuji 400, a stock that keeps color and pops! If you have done your research and are interested in a different kind of stock, inquire!

Will I receive my negatives back?

Negatives are sent back to me from my film lab at cost, they are mainly used so you can go get them rescanned for prints bigger than a 4x6! If you would like your negatives back I will be happy to mail them to you for a
$20 add-on charge.

What should I wear to my film session, and when is the best time to book?

Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident! But if you want my personal opinion, I think lighter colors go best with the aesthetic of film. The best time to book a film session is by planning ahead. This gives me plenty of time in case I have to order any stock for your session.

Why choose film over digital?

I love film because it's a form of art. The process of loading, shooting, and developing a roll of film is a feeling like no other, not knowing whats going to come out the other side! It provokes thought and technique, presets and filters that claim to give digital photos that 'film look' can't recreate that.
